DESCRIPTION:Everyone is invited to the Northwood House lawns on the evening of Sunday 7th July for great music\, a delicious summer buffet feast and some excellent company as we come together again for our annual fund-raising evening for the Aitken Tennis Courts in  Northwood Park.\nThe Aiken Courts are a popular community asset used by lots of local people. Our mission is to keep the courts as a “free to play” facility\, but as a charity\, we need help with the ongoing costs of maintaining the courts to a high playing standard. \nFollowing the total refurbishment of the courts that was completed in 2020\, the courts have become more popular than ever…so if you play regularly or just want to support the charity with its community-focused aims\, this is your chance to help contribute by coming along and enjoying this special evening. \nJust to clean the courts professionally each spring now costs over £1800 alone\, with ongoing fees like insurance and other maintenance adding up to many hundreds of pounds over the year. \n \nSo join us for a very sociable evening on the Northwood House lawns from 6:30pm to 10.30pm on Sunday 7th July\, with a glass of prosecco or G&T on arrival and a sumptuous summer buffet supper laid on by the  Northwood House volunteer catering team\, winners of the Queens Award For Volunteering and renowned for putting on a great spread of food for the best occasions! \nThe summer buffet will be served from 7.30pm\, so arrive nice and early in readiness. \nThe Lawn Bar itself will be closing early on the afternoon at 6pm  and will re-open at 6.30pm to host this strictly ticket-only exclusive event. \n \nGreat live music will accompany this delicious summer supper which will be brought to you this year by new local band “A Bit on the Side” who’ll be playing a wide range of rocking party cover songs from the 1970’s to the 2000’s\,  with dancing very much encouraged in front of the stage. The band will be supported by a special guest act…the George Michael Way (tribute) who’ll be singing exclusively ahead of the main band. \n \nThe Lawn Bar marquee will be there to use too\, so even if the weather is less than clement you can still enjoy the evening whilst under cover. \nWe will also be doing some fundraising on the evening with a tennis themed raffle and silent auction raffle hosted by G4’s Mike Christie\, with prize donations gratefully received in advance. \nTickets are only £22 each and include a fixed donation of £12 to the court Funds\, with the remainder going to cover food\, entertainment and sundry event costs. \nThis is a great opportunity to donate to the charity’s efforts to keep the courts in the best shape possible and free to play\, while having a great night out with friends. \n \nEveryone is welcome (you definitely dont have to play tennis to come along!)\, with tickets available to purchase online below or by phoning the office on 01983 293642 between 10am and 2pm Mon-Thurs. \nWhen booking tickets online please state for each one the persons buffet-eating preferences so we can cater appropriately: \nGeneral with meat/fish/veg options \nVegetarian only \nVegan only \nDo this by ticking the box in the drop down menu. \nIf you have other dietary requirement (allergies etc)\, please specify on the next drop down box and leave a contact number so we can call you back if required. \nThere is also the option to add an extra donation to assist with the funds in the ticket section below\, with all extra donations being gratefully received. \nYou are welcome to bring your tennis rackets along and have some fun on the adjacent courts during the evening as well. \nPlease note ticket online ticket sales close on Friday 5th July at 12pm in order for orders to be placed for catering.

SUMMARY:The 2024 Aitken Courts "Cowes Open" Fun Tennis Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Tennis players of Cowes and the wider Island community…its time to step up to the base line! \nAre you up for taking part in this year’s Cowes Annual Open Tennis Tournament which is taking place this June and early July? \nFollowing the success of last year’s tournament\, we’re expecting an even greater number of players to take part this year\, all helping to raise funds towards the upkeep of the Northwood Park Aitken Tennis Courts. The courts are widely recognised as some of the best public courts on the Isle of Wight after huge amounts of fundraising and investment in 2019 and 2020. By fundraising we hope to help keep them this way! \nThe Cowes Open will comprise of three separate tournaments\, all to be played on the Aitken Tennis Courts: \n\n1) Cowes Open Singles:  8th June to 6th July 2024\n2) Cowes Open Doubles:  8th June to 6th July 2024\n3) Cowes Open “Social” Doubles:  Sunday 7th July 2024\n\n  \nThe main Singles and Doubles tournaments will be played over the course of a four week period to give competitors a bit of time to complete their matches\, and the “Social” Doubles tournament will take place on Sunday 7th July\, the same day as the Annual Tennis Court Summer Supper on the lawns of Northwood House that evening. The supper event also raises further funds to assist Northwood House Charitable Trust cover court maintenance costs and help keep them free to play for the community at large. Trophies for the tournament winners will be presented at the supper. \nThe Cowes Open Fun Tennis Tournament is  a very informal competition of singles and doubles matches\, open to players of all ages and at all levels of ability. Matches should be completed as soon as possible in order for subsequent rounds of the tournament to be drawn and played by the end of Saturday  6th July. The Social doubles are played through the day on Sunday 7th July to round off the tournament. \nOf course\, the emphasis is on the word “fun” to try and engage with the heightened interest in tennis generally over the summer period. Entry fees from the tournament are all going to the Aitken Court maintenance fund\, to help Northwood House Charitable Trust with its ongoing commitment to keep the courts well looked after and free to play for the local community. \nMike Christie\, founder of the Wight Proms and regular tennis court user has stepped up once again to organise the tournament and will be the person who will be liaising with all entrants to plan the games\, collect the scores and manage draws for subsequent rounds of the competition. \nPlease enter by the closing date of Thursday 6th June\, for matches to be organised beginning on the 8th June. Mike will be in touch to circulate the draws ASAP\, allowing for time to schedule matches depending on the number of entries. \nHere are details of the three tournaments in greater depth: \n1) Cowes Open Singles: £10 entry fee \nAimed at more serious players of a reasonable perceived ability. \nRound-robin format where each player plays everyone in their group like in the Football World Cup. In the case of there being only being two groups\, the winner of each group shall play in a finals match. In the case of there being four groups\, then the winners of each group go to a semi-final from which point it’s a knock-out to the final match. \nEach match will be best of 3 sets with the result being either win or lose\, and the number of games won and lost included in the group scoring. Standard tennis scoring: 15/30/40/Deuce/Advantage. The match is self-umpired and self scored in the spirit of a fun competition. \n2) Cowes Open Doubles £20 entry fee per doubles team\, with partners remaining together for the whole tournament. You can also enter as a single player and be partnered at random with another single player (£10 entry fee per person). \nAimed at more serious players of a reasonable perceived ability. \nRound-robin format where each team plays every team in their group\, like in the Football World Cup. In the case of there being only being two groups\, the winning doubles pairing of each group shall play in a finals match. In the case of there being four groups\, then the winners doubles pairing of each group go to a semi-final from which point it’s a knock-out to the final match. \nEach match will be best of 3 sets with the result being either win or lose\, and the number of games won and lost included in the group scoring. Standard tennis scoring: 15/30/40/Deuce/Advantage. The match is self-umpired and self-scored in the spirit of a fun competition. \n3) Cowes Open “Social” Doubles £20 entry fee per doubles team\, with partners remaining together for the whole tournament. You can also enter as a single player and be partnered at random with another single player (£10 entry fee per person). \nPerhaps the most fun element of the competition\, where players of all ages and abilities are encouraged to enter with a partner (or we’ll team you up with someone on the day)\, this will take place on the day of the Hog Roast Fundraiser and will be done within one session. \nIf a match can’t be completed due to the opponent(s) withdrawing before or during the match\, it will be counted as a straight sets win for remaining player(s). \nPlayers can enter all three parts of the competition if they wish\, but must pay the fee to enter each one. \nSorry\, over 18’s only may enter this year due to safeguarding regulations on the courts. \nBy entering\, players agree to: \n\nTake part at their own risk and vouch for their own fitness to be able to compete.\nArrange a convenient time to play their scheduled match directly with their opponent via phone or email.\nPlay their matches in the spirit of a fun competition and conduct themselves accordingly.\nReport the match scores back to the organiser on the same day if possible.\nHaving the tournament match draws and the results publicised on the “Tennis in the Park” facebook page so all entrants can remain informed on how the competition is progressing.\n\nEnter below now or for more information please email Mike Christie on: contact@mikechristie.co.uk \nTo book tickets for the Annual Tennis Court Summer Supper\, please click here!

SUMMARY:Spring Art & Garden Fair “Eco Exhibitor” Information and Booking Portal (for rescheduled event)
DESCRIPTION:2024 Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair: New “Eco Exhibitor” opportunities… \n \nThe Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair  has become one of the busiest early season events on the Island and is a great opportunity for a huge range of quality Isle of Wight businesses to promote and sell their products and produce. \nThe Fair will take place this year on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2024  (rescheduled due to bad weather from 6th & 7th April) and will be open for visitors between 10am and 5pm daily. With an estimated 4500 visitors in 2023\, the Fair continues to grow in popularity and with enhanced support from Red Funnel Ferries in 2024\, more footfall from the mainland via the Red Jet is certainly on the cards. \n \nThe Fair of course has a specific focus on art and gardening and businesses who trade in to these sectors but with extra space afforded due to the rescheduling of the event to May we are introducing a brand new focus on green and eco-friendly businesses specialising in products and services with good environmental credentials for the domestic customer. \nWith climate change and its future impact becoming an increasingly pressing issue for everyone we think showcasing these businesses is becoming essential if we really are going to make a difference to the future outcome of our planet. \nGet involved if you are a green or eco-friendly business with products and services to sell! \nWe’re offering special pitch fees for businesses who want to attend to showcase their products and services including the following specific areas: \n>Electric cars (Join the “EV Avenue” featuring the latest electric cars from our best local dealerships- see more info below).\n>EV charging\n>EV solar panels & battery storage\n>Solar thermal\n>Ground & Air source heat pumps\n>Insulation\n>Domestic wind turbines\n>Water conservation and rainwater harvesting\n>Grant source funding for eco home improvements\n \nElectric car retailers: Join the Spring Fair’s “EV Avenue” \nIf you own or manage a local car franchise or dealership this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best electric vehicle you have to offer. \nWe’re looking to feature one electric vehicle from up to 12 different car manufacturers\, allowing Fair visitors to get up close and personal with the latest the world has to offer in the EV market. With so many of the Fair’s visitors in the 40-75 year old demographic\, often the most challenging mindsets to change\, this is a great opportunity to break down barriers and start to drive some real interest in what’s available on today’s local forecourts without customers having to make a specific visit. \nFor only £95 per vehicle\, take a 6m x 6m outdoor space\, enough for a single electric car and a small gazebo (if you have one) to come along and join in the showcase. Dress your pitch however you like (flags/banners/bunting etc) so it’s clear which garage and car marque you represent. \nDealerships with two or more marques can represent two or more cars\, but each must have a separate pitch (which will be located next to each other) and they must be from different manufacturers\, not different models from same manufacturer. \nYou’ll have to man the stand with at least one knowledgeable sales representative over the weekend and should have POS materials available for Fair visitors to pick up and take away. So for less than the cost of a microscopic advert in the local press you can attend and interact with up to 4000-5000 visitors across the weekend\, hopefully generating lots of new leads and interest in this rapidly growing market. \nYou’ll need to bring your electric vehicle to site on either Friday 17th May between 3pm and 7pm or on Saturday 18th May between 7.30am and 9.15am. Vehicles can be left on site overnight in Northwood Park on Friday and Saturday nights if locked and secure and removed after the Fair closes at 5pm on Sunday 19th May. We’ll have security guards keeping an eye on all exhibitor pitches between 7pm and 8am on Friday and Saturday night. \nAll the vehicles will located in the same area of the show field to create a unique focal point. \nTo book a pitch\, complete the booking section below or call Chris at Northwood House to chat some more about getting involved (01983 293642). \nPitches are available on a first come\, first served basis (sorry). \n Other “Eco business” exhibitors listed above: \nA special outdoor pitch fee for a 3m x 3m space (big enough for a standard pop-up gazebo) of £65 is all that it costs to get involved for the weekend\, saving over 30% on our standard fees (£95). \nA 3m x 6m pitch is only £85 and a 6m x 6m pitch is £95 if you require something bigger for display purposes. Use the booking section below to book. \nOur standard Spring Fair conditions apply to all exhibitors\, and we will need a copy of your business’s public liability insurance for you to attend for our own insurance purposes. \nPitches rental fees are VAT exempt under our Charity status and thus exclude any VAT that can be reclaimed by VAT registered businesses. \n \nMore general exhibitor information: \nThe event will be staged on the lawns and within the grounds of Northwood House and Park\, now one of the Island’s leading event venues. The venue is managed by Northwood House Charitable Trust\, with proceeds from the event going to the charity. This will help to continue the ongoing restoration of this iconic Island building for future generations of Islanders to enjoy. \nThe event will also feature arena entertainment\, live music and demonstrations throughout the weekend\, as well as a huge range of quality exhibitors\, including\, hopefully\, yourselves! \nEach pitch booking comes with 2 exhibitor wristbands included. Others available at standard admission rates. \nPlease note that we don’t general permit exhibitors to have their vehicles on their pitches unless by prior arrangement only. This doesn’t apply though to”EV Avenue” bookings where having a car on the pitch is one of the conditions of taking part! \nExhibitor vehicles will be parked nearby in the park for access if required. \nPlease use the booking section at the bottom of the page to complete your application and payment after reading the information below: \n  \nBooking terms and conditions 2024 (sorry the boring bit!) \n(Note: we advise you to please copy and save this information digitally for your records) \nBy booking a pitch\, exhibitors agree to read\, understand  and abide by the terms and conditions stated below: \nPitch fees: \n1. Your pitch fees cover both days of the fair (Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2024) and include two standard exhibitor wristbands\, with others available at cost on request (£5 each). \n2.Exhibitors must agree to guarantee  attendance on both days of the event between the hours of 10am and 5pm. We are unable to take bookings for single event days only. \n3. We will send you a confirmation of your booking and a receipt of your payment once it has been received in our bank. This may take up to a week after payment has been received. \nWhat are you selling?/Our right to cancel \n4: We require you to confirm the nature of your business and what you will be selling at the Fair in the booking form. We reserve the right to cancel the booking and refund any fee if we don’t believe the nature or quality of what you are vending fits in with our event. Our decision is final. If you are in doubt\, you should contact Sam or Darren at Northwood House before booking on 01983 293642 or email sam.dean@northwoodhouse.org \n5. While we fully support and welcome all vendors of locally-made produce\, all food and drink must be packaged for take-home\nconsumption only. Hot or chilled food and drink items intended for consumption on site are strictly prohibited unless by separate arrangement (see 6 below)\, as per the conditions of our licence as an event venue. This is non-negotiable\, and as such we reserve the right to eject immediately without prior warning or refund any exhibitor in direct breach of this condition. \n6. Exhibitors selling packaged non-ambient produce\, food or drink for take home consumption must meet relevant standards of Health & Hygiene. You must be registered with the Isle of Wight Council as a food business and have an appropriate PL insurance\, documentation and practices in place for HACCP purposes while vending at the Fair. Do not book if you cannot meet and provide evidence of these requirements to us upon request or to an official from the Isle of Wight Council. \n7. Food vending concessions aren’t currently available to book for this event\, but interested concessionaires can email  sam.dean@northwoodhouse.org to be added to a waiting list. \nCancellation: \n8. If an outside exhibitor has to cancel their booking\, the following refund procedure will apply: \ni) Before 5pm on Friday 27th April\, a full refund will be issued. \nii) After 5pm (close of business) on Friday 27th April\, but before 5pm on Friday 3rd May\, a 50% refund will be issued. \niii) Any cancellations after 5pm on Friday 3rd May will receive no refund as the show plan will have been completed. \n9 . In the unlikely event that the  Fair is cancelled before 10am on Saturday 18th May\, all payments will be returned in full. If the event is cancelled due to severe weather or reasons of force majeure after this time\, unfortunately no refunds can be made to exhibitors. In the event of a late cancellation we cannot accept any liability for any items or produced or prepared specifically to retail at the Fair\, sorry. \nInsurances: \n10. All exhibitors MUST hold Public Liability Insurance with an appropriate level of cover. Please email a copy of your current certificate to sam.dean@northwoodhouse.org . If the current policy expires before the date of the Fair\, a copy of the new certificate will be required before Event Management allow access to the Fair site in May. \n11. Exhibitors are responsible for ensuring their belongings are fully insured. Northwood House Charitable Trust Co. Ltd. will\nnot be held responsible in the unlikely event of loss\, theft or any damages that may be incurred during the event or if items have been left on the show site overnight. \nSecurity: \n12. Security personnel will patrol the exterior gardens and parkland on the evening and night of  Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May. However\, due to the large size of the site\, we cannot guarantee a direct line of sight on your plot at all times. Therefore\, all items are left on site at\nthe exhibitor’s risk. If in any doubt\, you should remove items from your pitch during closed event periods\, although you can leave gazebos in place. \n  \nSetting up/down & replenishment: \n13. Exhibitors will be able to set up/down and replenish their plots at the following times: \n\n11am- 8pm on Friday 17th May\n7.30am-9.30am & 5.15pm-6.30pm on Saturday 18th May\n8.30am-9.30am & from 5pm-6.30pm (take down) on Sunday 19th May\n\n  \n14. Unless prior arrangement has been made with Event Management\, exhibitors must pack down their displays and vacate the premises by 6.30pm once the fair is finished on the evening of Sunday 19th May. We are unable to store items in the House. \n15. Although a general site plan may be available in the several weeks leading up to the Fair\, only\nupon your arrival at Northwood House & Park will you be shown your designated plot. Unless agreed by prior\narrangement with Event Management to cater for specific needs (space for large sculptures\, for example)\, Event\nManagement make no guarantees about plot allocations and these are allotted at our discretion based on customer flow and variation of exhibitor. \n16. We’ll send out a Spring Fair information update\, to all exhibitors the week beginning Monday 25th March. Mainland exhibitors will be contacted in advance to discuss travel arrangements. \n17. Exhibitors will receive one car parking permit for use on the event field for parking over the weekend and for setting up and down periods. SUMMARY:Northwood House: The Halloween Haunted History Tour (with Author Tim Wander)
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Halloween night for a special spooky evening featuring ghost stories\, myths\, legends and supernatural tales associated with Northwood House\,  the Island’s most haunted venue. \nThis is far more than just a walk though a darkened building on Halloween night – it’s a chance to unravel the history of the house and to find out why this rambling Georgian manor maybe so haunted as you tour the many rooms and passageways at night by candlelight.  See the cellars\, tunnels\, empty servant’s rooms and Nuns cells. The House has been a convent\, a Red Cross hospital and a boarding school…. and has\, of course\, for over 200 years hosted the wildest parties attended by Royalty from all over Europe. Each has made its mark and must have left memories in the very fabric of the building. \nIsland historian and House expert Tim Wander will be your guide on Halloween night\, telling you all about the haunted history of this iconic Island building… escorting you through the labyrinth of corridors and cellars. Only stopping to tell you who once lived there\, and maybe discover if they still do. \nCome with an open mind. Expert nothing\, but be prepared for everything. SUMMARY:Paranormal Investigations - Halloween Awakening
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE 05/10/23 \nTHIS EVENT HAS NOW SOLD OUT – please email administrator@northwoodhouse.org if you would like to be added to a waiting list. \nParanormal Investigations: Halloween Awakening \nIt is said that the Isle of Wight is the most haunted county in England\, and it is believed by many that Northwood House is the most haunted building of them all. So there is probably no better place on the Island to carry out a real paranormal investigation to see what lies within. \nFor more than a century\, people have believed that due to the myriad of ley-lines that run beneath the Island’s landscape\, that powerful magnetic forces exist which are directly responsible for increases in supernatural energy and paranormal activity. It is widely believed in pagan circles that Northwood House lies on one such line making it centre of local attention in the spirit and ghost hunting world. \nWhatever you believe then you are probably intrigued by the prospect of the spirit world existing\, either as true believer already or as somebody who is open minded enough to the possibility. \nYou are now invited to join our experienced paranormal investigators to immerse yourselves in the deep history of this much loved\, yet seemingly haunted ancient building. \nAnd with some fascinating and unexplained  results from our previous four investigations\, who knows what or who we might uncover this time during Halloween\, when activity in the spirit world is said to reach it’s peak. Join us on one of two exclusive evenings\, where we will go in real search of  paranormal activity…be ready to experience the unexplained. \n  \n \n  \nYour experience will begin with a hot drink and briefing from our paranormal experts before the lights are extinguished and the investigation begins. In near-total darkness you will be split in to two groups and escorted around this Grade II listed building\, taking in three floors including the cellar\, narrow\, winding staircases and even a library that was once used as a morgue. Using professional ghost hunting equipment including EMF meters\, infra-red thermal scanners\, EVP sound recorders and motion detectors\, who knows what you might experience? At the end of the investigation the groups will meet up again to review discuss any unexplained activity. \nAll we know is this: these investigations are not for the faint-hearted and are aimed at those who believe in paranormal activity and the existence of the spirit world…or at least are open minded enough to find out more. If you’ve had a previous experience or an interaction with the spirit world or even seen a ghost\, please let our experts know upon arrival. \nParanormal Investigations- Halloween Awakening\, takes place on the evening of 24th and 25th October 2023 \nDoors open 9.00 pm to meet the paranormal team leaders and for a briefing of the night and what to expect. \n Investigations runs from 9.30pm  to midnight (approx). \nComplimentary tea\, coffee & biscuits available on arrival in the Rotunda entrance. \n A quick convenience break will take place for 10 minutes half way through the evening . \nA debrief will take place at the end of the investigation where people can share there experiences before going home. \nExclusive tickets only £22.50 per person. \nA very limited number of places are available on each night. \nOver 16’s only. \nThese are serious investigations and are conducted that way. Don’t expect actors in ghost costumes trying to frighten you. \n \nOther T&C’s: \n\nFull payment must be made at the time of booking. If a customer cancels their booking 7 days or more before the day of the event\, a full refund will be given.\nNo refund will be given for cancellations less than 7 days before the event.\nThere are circumstances beyond our control\, such as failure of a third party to supply their services\, where we may have to cancel an event at short notice. In this event\, a full refund of the ticket price will be made to customers. Expenses such as travel and accommodation will not be refunded.\nNo persons under the age of 16 are permitted to attend these investigations.\nStrictly no alcohol or drugs are permitted on site at any time. Smoking\, including the use of e-cigarettes\, is only permitted in designated areas prior to the investigations beginning.\nDue to the historic nature of the building\, accessibility is often limited. Regrettably therefore\, these investigations are unsuitable for anyone with a disability or mobility impairment which could directly affect their safe navigation or evacuation of the house.\nCustomers should be aware that they are attending the event at their own risk. Northwood House Charitable Trust Company Ltd  (NHCTCL) will not be responsible for any injuries sustained nor loss or damage to property. NHCTCL carries Public Liability Insurance but due to the locations being beyond what would normally be available to the public\, we recommend customers have their own third party liability insurance.\nThese investigations will take place in near-total darkness and occasionally confined spaces. As such\, they may be unsuitable for anyone with relevant phobias.\nCustomers are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible manner\, and with courtesy and respect towards the investigation team and fellow customers. Abuse of any kind will not be tolerated.\nNHCTCL is not responsible for any views expressed during the investigations. Our team of investigators offer their own perspectives and we expect customers to hold an open mind throughout the night. It is impossible to guarantee what\, if any\, activity you might experience during the investigation. Your experience could be minimal or intense\, and we accept no responsibility for what might occur as a result of paranormal activity.\nDue to the late finishing times of these events\, we ask that you respect our neighbours and leave Northwood House and the surrounding Parkland quietly. Please ensure you are not too tired to drive home.\nThese terms and conditions are non-negotiable and your booking to attend an investigation implies your acceptance of them.\nIf you’ve experienced panic attacks. severe anxiety or have a fear of the dark or of the paranormal world\, then this activity may not be suitable for you and you should not book.\nIf you decide to leave the investigation early for any reason including any listed  above\, then no part of your ticket can be refunded.

SUMMARY:Red Funnel presents Luminarium
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to be the venue for a very exciting new visitor experience  between 3rd and 6th August\, which are the last four days of the Cowes Week annual sailing Regatta…a fantastic end to our busy week of social activities. \nOur event partners Red Funnel are proud to present an inspiring and unique first for the Isle of Wight – The “Dodecalis” Luminarium\, by the Architects of Air here in Northwood Park\, just below the main Lawn Bar terraces. \nDodecalis is one of the Architects of Air’s most exciting touring structures yet\, featuring a dazzling array of luminous lines illuminating the three Dodecadomes\, an awe inspiring “Tree” design\, and a magnificent main dome with it’s asymmetry serving to disorientate the visitor\, in a way that makes exploration more exciting – maximising intrigue and wonder. Admission to the Luminarium is only £6.99 per person (under 2’s free) with experiences lasting around 20 minutes of pure wonder. \nBuy your experience tickets now at the Red Funnel website to guarantee an admission slot! Click Here  \nPlease note this is not a Northwood House Charitable Trust event\, so please direct all enquiries to Red Funnel Ferries. \n \nSince 1992 more than 3 million visitors\, in over 43 countries\, across 5 continents have been welcomed into one of the Architects of Air’s monumental Luminaria\, immersed in radiant colour\, that comes simply from daylight shining through the luminarium’s fabric. \nWellbeing and calmness are at the centre of this incredibly beautiful\, immersive art installation. Enter the Luminarium and be moved\, as you step into an amazing\, wonderful\, sensory world of light\, colour and sound. \nWalk through\, sit\, or maybe even lie down\, and drink in the dazzling maze of winding paths and soaring domes\, where natural forms\, Islamic architecture\, Archimedean solids and Gothic cathedrals meld into an inspiring mix of design and engineering. \nThis walk through installation awakens all the senses\, creating emotions of wonder and enchantment for all ages. \nSo take your time\, and lose yourself in sensory bliss! \n \nWhat is a Luminarium? \nA Luminarium is a sculpture you enter for an encounter with light. \nThis immersive walk through art experience has been likened to a labyrinth\, walking through a stained glass window and even wandering through a gigantic\, strange\, breathing organic creature.  Walking through will awaken all of the senses\, creating a sense of wonder and enchantment for all ages. \nMany people find the Luminarium calming – a place for rest or meditation. Others are simply hypnotised by this amazing world of light and subtle and saturated hues. There are seven Luminaria touring the world. \n \nCome inside to wander through a 1000m2 inflatable art work\, with tunnels and cavernous domes\, experiencing a range of colour\, light and sound. The radiance of the daylight transmitted by the coloured parts of the Luminarium is surprising in its luminosity and makes a direct impact on the senses. Here the Luminarium’s pneumatic environment\, freed from the constraints of traditional architecture\, amplifies the radiance of its translucent elements. \nVisitors are excited to discover how the colours blend or resonate; how they transform faces and clothing. The subtle soundscape created specifically for the Luminarium accompanies the visitors in the experience. \nWho made it?\nThey are designed by Architects of Air founder Alan Parkinson. www.architects-of-air.com \nThe Luminaria are inspired by natural forms\, geometric solids\, Islamic and Gothic architecture. Each new creation is a maze of winding paths and inspiring domes where the visitors may lose themselves in sensory bliss.Since 1992 over 3 million visitors in more than 40 countries across 5 continents have immersed themselves in the spectacular\, luminous world of Architects of Air. \n \nOpening Times: \nGeneral admission runs from 11am to 5pm (Thurs 3rd-Sun 6th Aug) and pre booked tickets are on sale now! \nAll sessions prior to 4.30pm can be pre booked here\, or you can choose to purchase tickets “on the door” for maximum flexibility\, but we cannot guarantee a time of entry and this may be subject to a longer queue. \nThe 4.30pm and 5pm daily sessions are solely deemed as “on the door / walk up” ticket sales only. No pre booked tickets will be available for these slots. \nHow much is it?\nTickets are £6.99 per person with children under 2 free.\nYou can turn up on the day and queue to get in\, or book a priority access ticket for a chosen time slot \nPriority access tickets are taken for half hour slot times\, please turn up in good time for your slot\, there will be a separate queue for you to enter \nHow long does it last?\nWhen we experience large queues\, visitors may be asked to limit their visit to 20 minutes. However visitors can remain as long as they want\, in times of lesser demand. Our stewards will control this and will inform you accordingly upon entry. \nWho can visit?\nEveryone! The Luminaria are fully accessible\, giving access to a very broad audience\, embracing all ages\, abilities\, cultures and communities. It is a great option as part of a family day out\, introducing younger children to artistic and cultural experiences in a public space.Under 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. \nThe structure is fully accessible for wheelchair users\, who are welcome to visit at all times and as an example\, Luminariums can be a particularly positive experience for those with autism and dementia. \nAre guide dogs allowed Inside?\nUnfortunately the Luminarium is not an environment that a dog feels comfortable in\, even a guide dog\, and a dog’s claws are not conducive to an inflatable structure of course.   So we have as a rule\, that guide dogs should remain outside and alternative ways to accompany the person inside should be found. \nAre pushchairs/prams allowed Inside?\nNo\, pushchairs/prams are to be left outside of the Luminarium \nWhat should I expect from my visit?\nOn arrival at the site you will join one of two queues – advance tickets or walk-in. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance to guarantee you can enter at your preferred time. \nThe time slot on advance tickets will indicate the window in which you have priority access to the structure. If you plan to purchase walk-up tickets on the day\, please note that only card payment is accepted. \nOn entry\, you will be required to leave your shoes and any large bags in the reception area – smaller bags can be taken inside the structure. All belongings left at reception are done so at the owners’ risk. \nOnce inside you navigate the winding tunnels of the structure. \nEach visitor has their own way of exploring the structure – some like to see every twist and turn\, whilst others prefer to find a spot to rest and contemplate. We encourage you to explore in your own way. \nCan I pay by cash on the day?\nWhilst walk up tickets are available on the day\, they are subject to longer queue times and only card payments will be accepted. \nWhat happens if we are late for our pre-booked slot?\nYou should seek to arrive on time for your pre-booked time slot. Should you be late\, you may lose your priority access and have a longer wait. Whilst we will endeavor to get you in\, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to\, if we are running at capacity. \nIs the attraction weather dependent?\nBeing an inflatable structure\, operation is subject to wind speeds. Should we have to cancel any sessions due to excessive wind speeds (or indeed excessive temperatures) then tickets will be refunded and you will be welcome to rebook into any available future time slots if available\, or join the walk up queues on your preferred alternative day. If the last day of the event has to be cancelled due to the weather then all affected tickets will be refunded. \nDo you have car parking?\nSeveral public car parks are within walking distance of Northwood House plus Northwood House will have their own Cowes Week temporary event parking in operation at £8 per car for the whole day or £5 after 2pm \nAny rules?\nUnder 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.\nThere is a strict ratio of one adult to 4 under 16 year olds. This is to maintain the calm atmosphere. \nRunning is not permitted inside the Luminarium to maintain the calm atmosphere. \nWhat if I have an enquiry?\nAll enquiries should be directed to keith@withadifference.co.uk \nSince 1992 more than 3 million visitors\, in over 43 countries\, across 5 continents have been welcomed into one of the Architects of Air’s monumental luminaria\, immersed in radiant colour\, that comes simply from daylight shining through the luminarium’s fabric. \nWellbeing and calmness are at the centre of this incredibly beautiful\, immersive art installation. \nEnter the luminarium and be moved\, as you step into an amazing\, wonderful\, sensory world of light\, colour and sound. \nSo take your time\, and lose yourself in sensory bliss. \nWatch the video below to see the Dodecali’s Luminarium Audience Reaction at The National Festival of Making… \n\n Buy your experience tickets now at the Red Funnel website to guarantee an admission slot!
