So call your friends\, plan you picnic and come on down for a fantastic free afternoon of family fun and entertainment within the grounds of Northwood House here in the heart of Cowes! \n \nThis will be the eleventh annual Picnic in the Park event and judging by the huge turn out of over 2000 people for last year’s picnic\, the event seems to get more popular than ever! So get your picnic baskets ready to go and head on down to Northwood Park to join in the fun from 12pm on Sunday 7th June for some sun (hopefully)\, fun (always) and great company (guaranteed)! \nThis a community inclusive event with everyone welcome to attend…not just from Cowes but from all over the Island. SUMMARY:Chainsaw Sculpture Bidding Page (Spring Fair 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Would you love to own the incredible “Happy Hares” timber sculpture to be carved at the Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair by renowned Chainsaw Artist Paul Sivell? \nYou can now make an advance bid for the sculpture here online. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a unique timber sculpture for your garden that will last for several decades and be the envy of visitors and neighbours! And what a joyful piece of original artwork to own! \n \nPaul Sivell is nationally renowned chainsaw artist based on the Isle of Wight and his beautiful and unique nature carvings fetch many hundreds of pounds at auctions and sales. \nMore About Paul \nPaul is a self-taught wood sculptor based on the Isle of Wight. Most of his common working media are condemned\, dead or dying trees\, particularly those that are gnarled\, twisted or misshapen and have no economic value. Although his working methods are noisy and fuel consuming\, he considers himself to be an environmental artist as he creates art by recycling trees that would often otherwise end up in landfill. The majority of Paul’s work is site specific with themes that are inspired by nature\, local traditions and mythology. \n \nPaul career background is in forestry\, arboriculture and countryside management\, but he started experimenting with wood sculpture about 30 years ago. However\, it wasn’t until 15 years ago that he made his first public sculptures. The demand for his work has increased steadily since this time with both public and private commissions. Paul has worked throughout the UK\, with the exception of Northern Ireland\, and has also undertaken commissions in Europe\, America and Southern Turkey. \nSee Paul at work here at last years Fair on our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cq0cJBiMObM/ \nBidding Guide \nAs a guide\, the minimum sealed bid offer should generally be upwards of £750. This really only just covers the artists time\, fuel and timber over a three day period\, so lower bids would be deemed inadequate for a piece of original timber art.  At the 2023 Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair\, Paul carved an amazing sculpture named “The Fox and the Owl” which fetched £1500 at the auction at the end of the event and made an incredible addition to a local garden in Baring Road in Cowes. In 2024 Paul carved a sculpture featuring two squabbling Red Squirrels which fetched a similar price and now sits in pride of place in the owners Seaview garden. \nHow to make a sealed bid for “Happy Hares”: \nA non-disclosed reserve “minimum price” has been placed on the sculpture. The highest bid above the reserve price will be the winner. \nJust use the ticketing section below to simply change the ticket quantity to 1 (from 0) to allow you to fill out the required information and make a bid. \nPlease note online bidding closes at 3.30pm on Saturday 4th April 2026 at the end of the fair. Bids received after this time will be discounted\, sorry. \nIf you are the winner you will be contacted on that Saturday afternoon and will be requested to make payment prior to collection within 5 days. \nPayment will be made to Northwood House Charitable Trust Company Ltd  by BACS\, card or cash. \nYou will be responsible for organising the collection of the sculpture at your own cost as soon as practically possible. \nGood luck and happy bidding! \nTerms and conditions: \n\nYour bid is not retractable and is binding.\nBy making a sealed bid you agree to purchase the sculpture at the price you bid for it if you are the highest bidder at the end of the auction (subject to the reserve being met).\nDo not bid if you are unable to pay the sum you bid.\nYou  agree to the bidding process as listed above.\nYou understand that you cannot collect the sculpture until payment has been fully received by Northwood House Charitable Trust and until that time the sculpture remains the property of the charity.\n\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:OUTDOOR PITCHES ONSALE UNTIL 22/03/2026 \nMARQUEE & ART SHOWCASE PITCHES ARE NOW SOLD OUT \n \nThe 2026 Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair returns back on its normal Easter time slot and will take place this year on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th April (Good Friday and Easter Saturday) and will be open for visitors between 10am and 5pm daily. \nThe Fair has become one of the busiest early season events on the Island and is a great opportunity for a huge range of quality Isle of Wight businesses to promote and sell their products and produce. \nWith an estimated 5000 visitors in 2025\, the Fair continues to grow in popularity with visitors and has become the leading early season outdoor event of the Island’s busy calendar.  The Easter weekend is normally considered to be the first  “get out of doors weekend” of the year and thus provides some great trading opportunities for a range of local and regional businesses who want to take part with many reporting this as one of their best events of the whole season. \n \nThe Fair of course has a specific focus on art and gardening and businesses who trade in to these sectors are particularly encouraged to take part. If you have an Island or mainland business selling anything relating to plants\, gardening and the great outdoors\, this is the event you have been waiting for! If you are an artist producing quality work good enough for an exhibition\, then step forward…we have an art showcase inside Northwood House that will be a super opportunity to promote and sell your work. \nOutside\, the Isle of Wight Spring Fair is perfect for everyone from plant nurseries and growers\, landscaping products and service providers\, and garden machinery dealerships\, to furniture\, clothing and other lifestyle businesses. What better way to start the new season than a show focusing on everything to do with the Island’s favourite pastime? It’s a great chance to activate promotions and show off a range of all your latest plants and products to a wide audience looking to not only see\, but buy! Island exhibitors will be joined by a range of horticultural based businesses from the mainland including a selection of RHS medal-winning plant nurseries. \n \nOf course\, it’s not just about gardening and high quality art. Producers and retailers of other quality items are welcome to attend over the weekend\, including makers of craft\, jewellery and local food (for take-home consumption\, though sampling is of course permitted!) with options to bring your own gazebo or book an all weather marquee. \nCharities and local organisations and businesses who want to promote themselves are also welcome to attend. The Fair also has a green business & eco section\, where businesses selling environmentally friendly products and services are welcome to attend\, including retailers of green energy systems and electric vehicles. It’s an eclectic mix\, with the emphasis always on quality\, making it very popular with visitors. \nThe two-day fair will be the first prime selling opportunity of the year. It will be one of the first main ‘Get Outdoors’ weekend of the season\, when customers are at their most eager to revamp their gardens and buy new items for the upcoming season. \n \nThe event will again  feature the Roots & Shoots Plants Talk Tent following its conception and popularity in 2025.  A range of national and local gardening speakers will come together in a fascinating programme of talks that are free for visitors to enjoy as part of the event. Businesses and individuals are welcome to put themselves forward if they would like to sponsor a talk or even do one themselves on an interesting garden-related subject. \nThe Fair is family friendly and free to enter for children 15 years old or younger. There will be some free kids craft activities as well as some Easter-related fun to keep everyone occupied. The popular Spring Fair Tea Tent will again provide a delightful range of lunches\, drinks\, cakes and afternoon teas and the Lawn Bar will be open with the chance to enjoy the first Pimm’s of the summer season! \nThe event will be staged  as ever on the lawns and within the grounds of Northwood House and Park\, now one of the Island’s leading event venues. The venue is managed by Northwood House Charitable Trust\, with proceeds from the event going to the charity. This will help to continue the ongoing restoration of this iconic Island building for future generations of Islanders to enjoy. \nGreat news…Island based exhibitors are now welcome to book…with all outdoor pitch prices held at the same as last year!\nThere’s lots to look forward to and exhibitors are now invited to take either an outdoor pitch for the event (providing their own shelters and gazebos)\, or in one of several all-weather marquees (provided by us\, no need to provide your own gazebo). \nAll weather marquees could be located on the lawns or in the park depending on the final show plan\, which isn’t plotted until all the pitch bookings are closed in early March. \nIn 2026 there are also options to hire your own individual small or medium sized frame marquee again from us which is exclusive for you to use at the fair which will be located on the main house lawns. \nPlease note artists who want to be part of the Art Showcase inside the venue should use the art booking portal (Click here)\, although of course artists are welcome to have a pitch outside or in a marquee too and should use this portal if that’s the preference. Be aware though that night times in spring can be damp and chilly and leaving art outside overnight in a marquee or gazebo really isn’t very advisable. \n \nPlease note pitches are only available for the entire two days. Bookings for single days only aren’t available\, sorry. \n \nAssume widest measurement is your selling frontage\, although bigger pitches maybe open on more than one side.  \nEven though we prefer exhibitors not to have their vehicles parked on their outside pitches\, if it is essential for storage or trading then exhibitors can do if they wish. But their pitch must be larger enough to do this\, and therefore no smaller than a 6m x 6m “Outside Square Pitch”. Please measure your vehicle to make sure you book a big enough pitch and still have enough room for retail items and a gazebo. You will not be able to encroach beyond your marked pitch boundary and this is strictly enforced. \nExhibitor vehicles will be parked nearby in the park for access if required. \nPitches rental fees are VAT exempt under our Charity status and thus exclude any VAT that can be reclaimed by VAT registered businesses. \nEach pitch booking comes with 2 exhibitor wristbands included. Others available at standard admission rates. \n  \nPlease use the booking section at the bottom of the page to complete your application and payment after reading the information below: \n  \nIsland exhibitor information for outside & marquee pitches / terms and conditions 2026 (sorry the boring bit!) \n(Note: we advise you to please copy and save this information digitally for your records) \nBy booking a pitch\, exhibitors agree to read\, understand  and abide by the terms and conditions stated below: \nPitch fees: \n1. Your pitch fees cover both days of the fair (Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th April 2026) and include two standard exhibitor wristbands\, with others available at cost on request (£6 each). \n2.Exhibitors must agree to guarantee  attendance on both days of the event between the hours of 10am and 5pm. We are unable to take bookings for single event days only. \n3. We will send you a confirmation of your booking and a receipt of your payment once it has been received in our bank. This may take up to a week after payment has been received. \nWhat are you selling?/Our right to cancel \n4: We require you to confirm the nature of your business and what you will be selling at the Fair in the booking form. We reserve the right to cancel the booking and refund any fee if we don’t believe the nature or quality of what you are vending fits in with our event. Our decision is final. If you are in doubt\, you should contact Chris or Darren at Northwood House before booking on 01983 293642 or email chris.newnham@northwoodhouse.org \n5. While we fully support and welcome all vendors of locally-made produce\, all food and drink must be packaged for take-home\nconsumption only. Hot or chilled food and drink items intended for consumption on site are strictly prohibited unless by separate arrangement (see 6 below)\, as per the conditions of our licence as an event venue. This is non-negotiable\, and as such we reserve the right to eject immediately without prior warning or refund any exhibitor in direct breach of this condition. \n6. Exhibitors selling packaged non-ambient produce\, food or drink for take home consumption must meet relevant standards of Health & Hygiene. You must be registered with the Isle of Wight Council as a food business and have an appropriate PL insurance\, documentation and practices in place for HACCP purposes while vending at the Fair. Do not book if you cannot meet and provide evidence of these requirements to us upon request or to an official from the Isle of Wight Council. \n7. Food vending concessions aren’t currently available to book for this event\, but interested concessionaires can email chris.newnham@northwoodhouse.org to be added to a waiting list. \nCancellation: \n8. If an outside exhibitor has to cancel their booking\, the following refund procedure will apply for 2026: \ni) Before 5pm on Friday 20th Feb\, a full refund will be issued. \nii) After 5pm (close of business) on Friday 20th Feb but before 5pm on Friday 13th March  a 50% refund will be issued. \niii) Any cancellations after 5pm on Friday 13th March you will receive no refund as the show plan will have been completed and submitted for print and marketing (sorry). \n9 . In the unlikely event that the  Fair is cancelled by us before 10am on Friday 3rd April\, all payments will be returned in full. If the event is cancelled due to severe weather or reasons of force majeure after this time\, unfortunately no refunds can be made to exhibitors. In the event of a late cancellation we cannot accept any liability for any items or produced or prepared specifically to retail at the Fair\, sorry. \nInsurances: \n10. All exhibitors MUST hold Public Liability Insurance with an appropriate level of cover. Please email a copy of your current certificate to chris.newnham@northwoodhouse.org. If the current policy expires before the date of the Fair\, a copy of the new certificate will be required before Event Management allow access to the Fair site in May. \n11. Exhibitors are responsible for ensuring their belongings are fully insured. Northwood House Charitable Trust Co. Ltd. will\nnot be held responsible in the unlikely event of loss\, theft or any damages that may be incurred during the event or if items have been left on the show site overnight. \nSecurity: \n12. Security personnel will patrol the exterior gardens and parkland on the evening and night of  Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd April. However\, due to the large size of the site\, we cannot guarantee a direct line of sight on your plot at all times. Therefore\, all items are left on site at the exhibitor’s risk. If in any doubt\, you should remove items from your pitch during closed event periods\, although you can leave gazebos in place. \n  \nSetting up/down & replenishment: \n13. Exhibitors will be able to set up/down and replenish their plots at the following times: \n\n11am- 7.30pm on Thursday 2nd April\n7.30am-9.30am & 5.15pm-6.30pm on Friday 3rd April\n8.30am-9.30am & from 5pm-6.30pm (take down) on Saturday 4th April\n\n  \n14. Unless prior arrangement has been made with Event Management\, exhibitors must pack down their displays and vacate the premises by 6.30pm once the fair is finished on the evening of Saturday 3rd April. We are unable to store items in the House. \n15. Although a general site plan may be available in the several weeks leading up to the Fair\, only upon your arrival at Northwood House & Park will you be shown your designated plot. Unless agreed by prior arrangement with Event Management to cater for specific needs (space for large sculptures\, for example)\, Event Management make no guarantees about plot locations and these are allotted at our discretion based on customer flow and variation of exhibitor. \n16. We’ll send out a Spring Fair information update\, to all exhibitors the week beginning Monday 23rd March . Mainland exhibitors will be contacted in advance to discuss travel arrangements. \n17. Exhibitors will receive one car parking permit for use on the event field for parking over the weekend and for setting up and down periods. You must display this on your dashboard at all times. \nGazebos\, tables and electricity: \n18. Exhibitors with outdoor plots will need to bring their own gazebos for shelter. However they must fit within the dimensions of their plot and not encroach on their neighbour’s allotted space. Please consider the size of your gazebo when choosing the size of your plot. \n19. Exhibitors with all-weather marquee pitches should not bring gazebos and will set up inside our marquee without the need for additional shelter. Be aware though that overnight damp and cold can be an issue in the early spring so delicate items should not be left overnight or should be covered appropriately. \n20. Gazebos and shelters should be erected in accordance with manufactures guidance and should be secured appropriately with weights and anchors in case of windy weather. We only recommend commercial grade gazebos should be used at outdoor public events where ever possible. \n21.  Trestle tables are excluded in your pitch fee although we can hire 1.8m trestles for use over the weekend. These must be booked in advance only. \n22. Access to electricity is not included\, but can be arranged if booked in advance. A £25 fee is applied for providing a pitch with 1 x 13amp power socket and electricity for the weekend. Please book with you pitch below. \n23. Generators of any type are not permitted on site unless by prior arrangement. \nWaste/Damage/Environment: \n24. Exhibitors are responsible for removing all rubbish and waste from their plots at the end of each day. \n25. Exhibitors must take reasonable care not to cause damage to any part of the Fair site at any time. Northwood House is\na Grade II* listed building and the use of any adhesives (tapes\, Blu-Tac\, drawing pins\, etc) or fixings on interior and exterior walls is\nstrictly prohibited. \n26.Exhibitors should not remove turf from outside pitches or make any damage to grass. Event Management reserve the right to forward on costs for repairs/reinstatement\, accordingly. In the case of wet weather\, exhibitors should not drive on the grass unless by prior permission of event management. \n27. In order to reduce not only our carbon footprint but our costs\, we reserve the right to communicate our\ncorrespondences electronically\, so please ensure you provide us with an email address\, taking due care to write it\naccurately in the booking section. We also encourage exhibitors to provide eco-friendly packaging and carry-bags for customer purchases where ever possible. \nMedia/advertising: \n28. Northwood House Charitable Trust Co. Ltd. reserves the right to use your name/business name and images of your\nexhibit in promotional materials\, including but not limited to social media posts (Facebook and Instagram)\, website\nand newsletter content\, posters and banners. \n29. SUMMARY:The 2026 Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair
DESCRIPTION:2nd April update: \nOnline ticket sales have now closed for the event.  Our entrances and car park can take card and cash payments upon entry. \nWe look forward to seeing you this weekend…even with some showers in the forecast\, we have lot of undercover areas to dodge any rain!\nThe 2026 Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair  will be back at Northwood House & Park in its normal Easter time slot\, taking place this year on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th April (Good Friday and Easter Saturday) and will be open for visitors between 10am and 5pm daily. \nThis enormously popular event is always a highlight of the Isle of Wight’s Easter events calendar and the first major outdoor event of the year\, attracting many thousands of visitors over the two days. And with low ticket prices and free entry for all children 16..its not going to break the bank to come along and enjoy the spring sunshine (hopefully!) and the incredible array of exhibitors packed in to the house\, lawns  and parkland. \nThe Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair always brings together a fantastic collection of different exhibitors of all types\, including garden and plant nurseries from the Island and mainland who will be taking space on the lawns of our historic venue\, as well as a fantastic Island artist showcase inside the elegant rooms of the main house itself. Its a diverse and eclectic event which visitors love. \n \nIt’s great for gardening folk…with plants\, shrubs\, tools\, ironmongery\, landscaping products and other outdoor leisure products all on display over the two-day event.  Guest mainland exhibitors who normally exhibit at the large RHS mainland shows will be attendance selling the highest quality plant stock. Plus there’s a huge range of  other stands to see from artisan craft to local produce…all helping to make the perfect atmosphere that visitors love. \nThe Fair has grown into the Island’s most important public exhibition event for Island artists. You’ll see some incredible work on display in the Island Art Showcase inside Northwood House from some of the most talented and creative artists in their field\, whether its in painting\, photography and even sculpture.  There will be a live painting demonstration complete with some human models as subject matter running through the weekend\, where visitors can have a go at sketching and painting with tuition from experienced Island artists in situ. \n   \nThere’s always good vibes…The popular Northwood House Lawn Bar will be open over the weekend serving the first Pimm’s of the season. You can catch some relaxing live music with our popular Spring Fair resident duos JC & Angelina and Mike & Amy Joliffee. So kick back\, grab a glass of pinot and settle in for the afternoon. \nFollowing the introduction of the Red Funnel Roots & Shoots Plants Talk Tent in 2025 with a range of fantastic speakers that gardening and plant enthusiasts loved\, the tent will be returning in 2026 with an even bigger programme of free talks to enjoy. See below who we’ve got booked in for your listening pleasure\, but its certainly a new highlight of the Fair for many visitors! It’s going to be a busy tent and so we’ve added some VIP options for those who want to reserve a seat for a specific speaker which include a glass of wine or a hot drink and biscuits! \n \n \nA highlight of the event for many is the famous Spring Fair Tea Tent managed by the award-winning Northwood House Volunteers\, serving fresh sandwiches\, cakes and afternoon cream teas for everyone to enjoy. There will also be a range of tasty food from the food court on offer through out the weekend. \n \nIt’s Easter weekend and that wont go with out notice as we will have a free Easter Egg Trail for the kids around the event\, where everyone will get a prize for taking part. The event is always great fun for families…with kids under 16 coming in free. There’s also fun to be had in the Kid’s Creation Station with more free art and craft activities for the younger ones\, plus story telling and some seed planting thrown in for good measure.  And if you love dogs…watch the team from ‘BARKING MAD’ who’ll be demonstrating dog agility\, fly-ball and obedience training. Local legend David Randini will be here to entertain the children with his magic in the arena\, plus there will some incredible falconry displays from the SBW Raptors. \nYou can also see some incredible chainsaw sculpture carving taking over the two days\, where Paul Sivell will be crafting a beautiful timber sculpture into a work of art that will be available to auction. Click here for more information on the incredible Happy Hares design that will be created. 50% of the auction proceeds will be donated to Northwood House Chartable Trust to help our volunteers look after Northwood Park. \nLovers of old vehicles will love the special annual display by the Isle of Wight Vintage Tractor Club who’ll be showing off some of their prized old tractors and engines from yesteryear\, always a fabulous part of the Fair. Several of the Island’s best historic car clubs will be exhibiting too…along with some vehicles from the other end of the spectrum in our Electric Avenue\, showcasing an array of EV’s from local and regional dealerships. \n \nThe Spring Fair is sure to draw large crowds of visitors from across the Island over the new weekend date with craft and local food producers also in attendance\, as well as a range of other quality Island businesses and organisations. \nThe great news is that entry fee is the lowest on the Island for a large outdoor event\, so its won’t break the bank to come. What’s more\,  all proceeds go to Northwood House Charitable Trust to help with the  ongoing restoration work and maintenance of Northwood House and Park for everyone to enjoy…so thank you for supporting this great local charity. \nSingle day tickets and discounted two day tickets can be purchased in advance below with the following tariff applicable for 2026\, with 10% off for Early bird purchases before 31st March 2026 on admission tickets: \n \nPlease note that even though talks in the Roots & Shoots Plant Talk Tent are free to enter for show visitors\, we can not and do not guarantee admission if the tent is full and oversubscribed with people attending. We apologise in advance for any disappointment this may cause.   \nThe only way to guarantee a seat for a particular headline speaker is to book a VIP TALK TENT TICKET which includes either a medium glass of house wine or a hot drink with biscuits. Seating at the front of the tent will be reserved for you and you’ll be hosted by our friendly “Meet & Greet” stewards who will seat you and get your drinks. \nPlease note that an admission ticket is still required for general Spring Fair entry with the VIP Talk Tent Ticket an additional purchase for the speaker of your choice. \nVIP Tickets will be available to purchase when the programme of speakers is released. \n All proceeds from admission fees and parking will go directly to Northwood House Charitable Trust funds to assist with the ongoing up keep of Northwood House and Park on behalf of the local community\, thank you. \nCar parking \nEvent parking is available on Northwood House’s event field\, off of Ward Avenue at £4 per car for a single day or £6 for two days if required.  The main public pay and display car park in Park Road is also available for parking over the two days with cash and card facilities available. \nOnline Tickets available now to purchase below or pay at the gate with cash or card. \nPlease bring a copy of your ticket confirmation email as proof of purchase for entry on the day. We will have a data base of advance ticket purchasers on the gate for cross referencing. \nPlease note that advance entry or parking tickets aren’t refundable after the 15th March 2026 unless the Fair is completely cancelled to extreme weather  but single day tickets can be swapped to the alternative day if required.
