History Talk with Vintage Afternoon Tea: ‘Northwood House-Through the Ages’

If you are a fan of local history this event could be right up your street, especially if you want to find out more about the history of Northwood House!

Tim Wander, local author, house historian and charity trustee will give a fascinating talk entitled ‘Northwood House -Though the Ages’ while you enjoy some delicious sweet and savory treats.
Join us at either 1.00pm or 3.30pm for one of the sittings which will include a full vintage afternoon tea and a welcome flute of prosecco or alcohol-free sparkling fizz on arrival. The menu will be perfect for lunch or a mid-afternoon treat.
The vintage afternoon tea menu, served by the award-winning Northwood House Volunteer team contains a selection of savoury sandwiches, followed by a moreish selection of cakes and fresh baked home-made scones (with clotted cream and strawberry jam) all washed down with a pot of tea, coffee or choice of soft drink.
Once tea is served Tim will start his talk which will cover a potted history covering the rise, fall and recent resurrection of the popular Cowes venue which last about an hour. Sitting will last approximately 1 hours 45 minutes in total, please arrive promptly.

Pricing
Standard tickets are only £17.50 per person (including glass of prosecco on arrival)
Northwood House Charitable Trust members only £13.50 (save £4). (Purchasers of members tickets will be checked against the database of members to validate. Members can purchase tickets for their group at this price).
The House Bar will be open during the afternoon for additional purchases of alcoholic or soft drinks.
Older children are welcome to attend but the event is aimed at grown ups and may not be particularly interesting for them. There are no concessions on pricing for children (sorry). Children will have a choice of soft drinks on arrival.
Unfortunately you cannot change your food choices once you have booked online unless you call the office on 293642 by 10am on the Thursday before the event.
Individuals and groups of two, three or four person booking will be seated on tables with other groups and individuals. Groups of five up to eight people will be seated on their own table. Eight is the maximum table size for this event.
The event is to help raise funds for ongoing maintenance and restoration projects being undertaken in 2026 including the renovation of windows and the house public toilets later in the year.
Cancellation:
No refunds are payable for any reason if you cancel your booking within 7 days of the event.
Cancellation can only be done by email to administrator@northwoodhouse.org by the time and date above, which will be processed with in 7 working days.
Timings:
1pm sitting: Arrive and wait in the Rotunda entrance for 1pm admission, event finishes no later than 2.45pm.
3.30pm sitting: Arrive and wait at the Rotunda entrance for 3.30pm admission, event finishes no later than 5.15pm.
Seating arrangements:
Individuals and groups of two or three persons booking will be seated on tables with our smaller groups and individuals.
Groups of four up to eight people will be seated on their own table. Eight is the maximum table size for this event.
Please book all of your group in one transaction so we know the total size of your group.
Please note that the person booking will be the lead name on our table plan on the day.
If you are booking separately and want to join a group that’s already booked, you will need to contact us directly after you’ve purchased the tickets to let us know. Please email Cath at administrator@northwoodhouse.org
Fund Raising:
The event is to help raise funds for ongoing maintenance and restoration projects being undertaken later 2026 including renovation works to upper floor windows and to the public toilets.
