6pm evening performances on Friday 14th June & Saturday 15th June (Gates open at 5pm)
2.30pm afternoon performance on Sunday 16th June: (Gates open at 1.30pm)
Cambio is Lucentio; Lucentio is Tranio and Litio is Hortensio….confused yet? The merchant is – he’s apparently now Vincentio…until Vincentio arrives! Why is Katherine so quick-tempered? Why is Petruchio really looking for a wife? Is Bianca actually the sweet, mild daughter her mother thinks she is? Do any of the couples – or would-be couples – actually share a genuine love for each other? Indeed, is marriage about love…or money?! So many comedic plots and subplots you won’t believe it!
But don’t worry, all the answers are to be found in the new Ad Lib Theatre open air production of William Shakespeare’s famous comedy The Taming of the Shrew at Northwood House on Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June.
With the two previous Ad Lib Theatre Shakespeare productions of Hamlet and The Comedy of Errors selling out to full capacity in previous summers here at the venue, make sure you get your tickets soon for this year’s main event before they sell out again. This June’s production may just prove to be the best one yet!
Please purchase tickets in advance here online (Sorry..no ticket sales on the day)
The performances will go ahead outdoors in most conditions, so come prepared for the English weather, but if rain or high winds prevail, we will move the performance(s) inside of Northwood House…so the show will go on what ever the weather!

Production notes from the Adlib Theatre team:
“After the success of our recent Shakespeare plays at Northwood, each one sold out and receiving incredibly positive feedback, we felt up for a challenge – and The Taming of the Shrew is certainly a challenge! Most productions give us a surface interpretation, with Katherine, the ‘shrew’ of the title, cruelly ‘tamed’ by husband Petruchio until she appears to believe that all women should do exactly as their husband bids…..not a sentiment we would share nowadays, and considering so many of his feisty female characters, not a belief Shakespeare seems to have upheld, at least in his maturity. We have looked deeper into the characters and what we found may surprise you – it will certainly entertain you – apart from all else it is a hilarious plot!”
