The 2024 Northwood House Tennis Court Summer Supper (fundraiser)
7th July £14.50 - £100.00
Everyone is invited to the Northwood House lawns on the evening of Sunday 7th July for great music, a delicious summer buffet feast and some excellent company as we come together again for our annual fund-raising evening for the Aitken Tennis Courts in Northwood Park.
The Aiken Courts are a popular community asset used by lots of local people. Our mission is to keep the courts as a “free to play” facility, but as a charity, we need help with the ongoing costs of maintaining the courts to a high playing standard.
Following the total refurbishment of the courts that was completed in 2020, the courts have become more popular than ever…so if you play regularly or just want to support the charity with its community-focused aims, this is your chance to help contribute by coming along and enjoying this special evening.
Just to clean the courts professionally each spring now costs over £1800 alone, with ongoing fees like insurance and other maintenance adding up to many hundreds of pounds over the year.
So join us for a very sociable evening on the Northwood House lawns from 6:30pm to 10.30pm on Sunday 7th July, with a glass of prosecco or G&T on arrival and a sumptuous summer buffet supper laid on by the Northwood House volunteer catering team, winners of the Queens Award For Volunteering and renowned for putting on a great spread of food for the best occasions!
The summer buffet will be served from 7.30pm, so arrive nice and early in readiness.
The Lawn Bar itself will be closing early on the afternoon at 6pm and will re-open at 6.30pm to host this strictly ticket-only exclusive event.
Great live music will accompany this delicious summer supper which will be brought to you this year by new local band “A Bit on the Side” who’ll be playing a wide range of rocking party cover songs from the 1970’s to the 2000’s, with dancing very much encouraged in front of the stage. The band will be supported by a special guest act…the George Michael Way (tribute) who’ll be singing exclusively ahead of the main band.
The Lawn Bar marquee will be there to use too, so even if the weather is less than clement you can still enjoy the evening whilst under cover.
We will also be doing some fundraising on the evening with a tennis themed raffle and silent auction raffle hosted by G4’s Mike Christie, with prize donations gratefully received in advance.
Tickets are only £22 each and include a fixed donation of £12 to the court Funds, with the remainder going to cover food, entertainment and sundry event costs.
This is a great opportunity to donate to the charity’s efforts to keep the courts in the best shape possible and free to play, while having a great night out with friends.
