Great news for comedy fans following on from our latest SOLD OUT show! The Comedy Social is back at Northwood House but for a Cowes Week special edition, our Cowes Week programme this year has something for everyone with top quality acts and our Comedy offering is no different…

So grab some friends, prime your giggle muscles and get ready for this special instalment….and what a line up we have for you! So without further ado we welcome the following belly busters.

The Acts

Headline Act: Terry Alderton

Terry is one of the most exciting comedians around, regularly performing all over the globe, and picking up the odd award. He has played the Melbourne Comedy Festival, New Zealand Comedy Festival, India, Edinburgh Comedy Festival, Canadas Just For Laughs, Dublin and Galway Comedy Festivals and many more. He is also recognisable to fans as character ‘Terry Spraggan’ in Eastenders and ‘Charlie Mead’ in Londons Burning.

Peeking inside the Technicolor mind of one of Britain’s finest comic talents and you will find him desperately doing battle with “The Voices”, two unpredictable and hilarious Voices in Terry’s Head. Though often a challenge to Terry these two different sides of his ego/conscience often lead him into unpredictable comedy routines. Oh and let’s not forget his talking shoes!

His TV stand up credits include, Live At The Apollo (BBC), Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave), Comedy Road Show (BBC), The Stand Up Show (BBC), Live At The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Just For Laughs Comedy Gala (Montreal), All Stars Comedy Gala (Melbourne), All Stars Gala (New Zealand), and The Waverley Gala (Edinburgh).

He has also written and performed in three series of his BBC Radio 4 show ‘Terry Alderton’s All Crazy Now’.

CARL JONES

Midlands comic Carl Jones first hit the circuit in 2011 after winning the Nottingham Comedy Festival Best Newcomer in his first handful of gigs.

Away from the stage, Carl is a regular contributor to BBC Radio’s comedy output and his writing has been heard on Newsjack, The Show What You Wrote and, most recently, as additional writer on national institution The News Quiz on BBC Radio 4.

MARTIN WESTGATE

Martin specialises in quick one liners, cheeky gags and chatting to the audience. He puts audiences at ease as well as entertains them.

Resident MC for the Portsmouth Guildhall (LOL comedy), Black Cherry Theatre (fortnightly), regular MC for Bournemouth Pavillion (LOL comedy) and occasional MC for Manfords comedy club Southampton and Wedgewood rooms in Portsmouth (Off the Kerb).

All seating is unreserved 
The seating is arranged in various configurations of tables and chairs and on our lawn space, these are available on a first come first served basis. We recommend groups of 3 or more people arrive early to get seats together as we cannot guarantee seats together for groups or parties. You may have to seating and tables with other guests, but that’s how we role at the comedy social!

Age suitability and restrictions
The comedy social  is strictly for 18 year old’s and over only due to the possible adult-themed content of the comedy. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone without valid ID/proof of age whom the staff management deem to appear to be underage.

Comedy content warning
We have no control over the content of the comedian’s routines (and what would be the fun of that if we did?) but as with all adult comedy you should expect to hear some rude and offensive language and listen to content with strong adult and controversial themes.  If you are likely to be offended by such content then you should not book, as no refunds can be given.

Photography

We allow photography during performances  (except in specific circumstances if requested in advance by a comedian), but any video or sound recording via a mobile phone or other recording device  is strictly prohibited.

Heckling/disruption during the event
We have a strict policy of no heckling whilst the comedians are performing their routine. This is disruptive to audience members surrounding you and also to the comedians on stage. Remember, people have paid to listen to the acts, not to you! Anybody repeatedly talking loudly/heckling/shouting out/acting in a disrespectful manner will be asked to leave immediately without a refund…you have been warned!

Cancellations/Refunds

Unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled in advance, all tickets for The Comedy Social  are non refundable…sorry.
